Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu 4 Days in Peru

The Rainbow Mountains are one of the most beautiful, exciting and suggestive places in Peru. They talked about it very well and, for this reason, we couldn't wait to visit them. Unfortunately, however, we have not succeeded and honestly our heart cries: when we see the photos we are literally entranced by the colors of these mineral fragments. The excursion starts from Cusco, it is not necessary to book from Peru because any agency you find in the city of Cusco will offer you this excursion for a generally reasonable price. You will leave by bus and arrive at the point closest to the Rainbow Mountains, the one from which a trek of about three hours will begin.

But no more talk, now we explain why we were unable to visit this fantastic place, here are the reasons:

1. Altitude problems: unfortunately the Rainbow Mountains are located at about 4000 meters above sea level, a point you will only have reached Puno, on Lake Titicaca. Being that one of us was very bad on the lake, we didn't think it was prudent to risk it again.

2. Evaluation errors: we were wrong! True, you can learn by mistake, but in this case we have really done it. We started from Peru almost totally underestimating the possibility of altitude sickness. We remind you that there are natural remedies, but also pharmacological ones, and we strongly advise you to take them into consideration.

3. Journey: the journey lasts three hours on the outward journey and three hours on the return journey and, unfortunately, we realized during the excursion to the Colca Canyon, that altitude sickness is very much felt even by bus, even more so if you travel for many hours closed on a bus full of people.

4. Trekking: the trek you will face to get to the top takes about two / three hours, a distance that can only be tackled if you are well and, unfortunately, in our case it was not so.

Having said that, the rainbow mountain hike 2 days are truly a natural wonder, do not miss them due to the lack of observance of these tips .
